Pretoria, Gauteng: Joren Communications (Pty) Ltd, t/a JOREN DIGITAL, is excited to announce the launch of SABC’s election website and mobile application. A few months ago, we had the opportunity to be awarded the contract to develop a digital website and mobile app for the South African leading broadcaster.

The website provides all the necessary information about the national elections integrating APIs from the Independent Electoral Commission and aggregating data points from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, including the latest news and details about the participating parties. The core of the website delivery is Amazon AWS, ensuring unmatched traffic support and smooth user experience on loading information. The mobile application is designed for iOS and Android platforms using Ionic/React Native and provides a new, improved and fastest way to access election news.

After several months of hard work and numerous problem-solving sessions, we have successfully delivered the website and the mobile application. This achievement represents a major milestone for our agency, as these digital assets will be used by millions of South Africans during a crucial period in the country’s 2024 national elections.

“I am incredibly proud of the final outcome of both the website and the mobile app. The successful launch is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team. The new website and mobile app have significantly bolstered SABC’s digital presence, making it easier for users to access content and stay informed. The modern, responsive design ensures that users have a consistent and engaging experience, whether on a desktop or mobile device,” Teboho Ramonyaluoa, a Web Developer at Joren, said.

“Working on the SABC project has been a fulfilling journey,” Ramonyaluoa added.

“Working on the SABC project was an exhilarating experience. Being both a designer and project manager, I had the opportunity to oversee the entire process from conception to launch. It was a challenging yet fulfilling journey, coordinating with the team to ensure that both the website and mobile app met the high standards expected for such a significant event,” said Lerato Makhuvha, Director of Business Operations at Joren, who was an overseer and the leader of the project.

“As for the website and mobile app launch, I feel a mixture of relief and excitement. Relief that all the hard work and meticulous planning paid off, resulting in a successful launch. Excitement to see how users interact with the platforms and to witness the impact they will have on making information more accessible during the elections. Overall, it’s a proud moment to have been part of such an important project,” she concluded.
